07/02/2009 - Archaeological Research at the Bridge Site

Last year during the course of initial work on the bridge, Birmingham University Archaeological Department, in conjunction with Birse Civils, (The main contractor) sank a borehole through the soil and peat down to a depth of 8 metres ( approx 26ft).

The purpose being to gain valuable information on ground conditions, crops grown and weather cycles back for thousands of years.

When the results of these tests are published, Birse will pass them on to CPRA. Providing they are not too technical, we should be able to put a short summary on our web-site
